World record no less than 941 bungee jumps in 24

World record: no less than 941 bungee jumps in 24 hours

A 41-year-old New Zealander reportedly threw himself from the top of a bridge 941 times in 24 hours to reclaim his world title for most bungee jumps in a day that was stolen from him last year.

“Getting started was certainly not easy, I knew it would be a big challenge […] [Je me sens] at the top of the world,” said extreme athlete Mike Heard, according to The Telegraph, after breaking the record early Wednesday morning.

The 41-year-old reportedly completed 941 bungee jumps from the Auckland Harbor Bridge, a bridge 141 feet high, or about 43 meters, between 7am on Tuesday morning and the same time on Wednesday morning, according to British media.

“Every now and then you get a bit of sea or motion sickness, but I somehow persevered and kept going. “So it hasn’t slowed us down or affected us at all,” the British newspaper reported.

The New Zealander would have proudly reclaimed his crown by surpassing the mark of 765 jumps set by Frenchman François-Marie Dibon in Scotland last year, bringing back the record from the cradle of bungee jumping, which then saw the light in his opinion New Zealand would have seen the world.

“It was marketed here. We love owning this sport so the record had to be here,” said the champion, who raised NZ$8,600 or just over US$7,000 for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

The record was previously held by Mike Heard since 2017, who jumped 430 times in one day.

The record still needs to be approved by Guinness World Records, but as he waits to receive “the certificate in the mail,” the man is celebrating the feat with his wife and children.
