Donald Trump blasts Joe Biden…and the Patriots

In the middle of a speech to the US presidential campaign, Donald Trump made a joke about the New England Patriots’ poor start to the season.

According to TMZ, in his address to the crowd gathered in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Trump compared the negotiations between current US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping to a football game between a second team and a good NFL team.

Looking for an example of a good team, he exclaimed, “I always said the New England Patriots. I wish I could say the Patriots. Bill Belichick is a good guy and a great coach, but they’re struggling.

A bad series

The Patriots suffered crushing losses in their last two games: 38-3 last week against the Dallas Cowboys and 34-0 last Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. This most recent matchup was also the worst shutout loss the Pats have ever suffered since being led by Belichick.

“What’s wrong with the Patriots?” asked the 45th President of the United States. He is an excellent coach. He’ll find a way to bring the team back together, but it wasn’t a good game the other night, was it?

In January 2021, after the attack on the US Capitol, the eight-time Super Bowl champion rejected the Presidential Medal of Freedom offered by Trump, which the Republican did not like, but the two men appear to have made peace since then.

New England currently sits in last place in the NFL’s Eastern Division with a record of 1-4. In 2022, the club missed the playoffs for the second time since 2009.
