Chloé Lachance-Gauthier, of Saint-Agapit, pleaded guilty to attempted murder in Quebec court on Wednesday.

In the summer, the 30-year-old and her co-defendant Jonatan Lacoursière decided to put a plan developed a few years ago into action.

The idea is “essentially intended to kill the complainant,” explains Crown prosecutor Me Fabien Villemaire in a summary of the facts submitted to the court.

Chloé Lachance-Gauthier has to serve her mother a glass of orange juice with morphine. Her partner then plans to take advantage of the woman’s “altered state” to enter her home, rape her, kill her, and then leave the house with his personal property.

On July 4, the 30-year-old woman added the narcotics to the glass of orange juice and served it to her mother as planned.

Lacoursière then enters the residence, but immediately leaves to get ties.

The intervention of another person, a witness, changes the plan. Lacoursière ultimately leaves the crime scene without carrying out the famous plan. A police report was filed in the days following this incident.

Lacoursière was arrested in July, while Lachance-Gauthier has been detained since September.

Fabien Villemaire mentions that Chloé Lachance-Gauthier made a “full confession” when she was arrested. By confiscating cell phones, the authorities also obtained “incriminating conversations” between the two accomplices.

The witness who prevented the crimes from being committed was also met by the authorities. The public prosecutor also states that he was able to confirm certain information.

The 30-year-old was initially charged with six counts, including conspiracy to kill a person and conspiracy to commit a felony. Given his guilty plea to the first count, attempted murder, the prosecutor requested that all other charges on the file be withdrawn.

A probation officer must prepare a report on the defendant before the court can decide on the sentence to impose.

Jonatan Lacoursière, 28, must return to court in January as part of the preliminary investigation. The man continues to face six charges in connection with the attempted murder of Chloé Lachance-Gauthier’s mother. The man is still considered innocent despite the summary of facts presented by Me Villemaire on Wednesday.
