Israeli airstrikes kill 1,354 Palestinians in Gaza, Health Ministry says

GAZA, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) — At least 1,354 Palestinians have been killed and another 6,049 injured in ongoing Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

In a press release sent to Xinhua, the ministry said that “44 Palestinians were killed on Thursday as Israel intensified its airstrikes in several areas of the Gaza Strip.”

Sources said Israel’s attacks also targeted residential neighborhoods and multi-story buildings in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli airstrikes came in response to a massive surprise attack by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) last Saturday.

Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported that the Israeli death toll had risen to over 1,300 since Saturday.
