Telecommunications company Quebecor has launched its Virtual Mobile Network Operator (MVNO) service while expanding the service area of its Videotron, Fizz and Freedom brands in Canada.
This gradual expansion will enable the services of these three brands to be offered to millions more Canadian consumers.
“The CRTC’s establishment of the framework for MVNOs represents a critical element in strengthening competition in Canada’s wireless sector,” Pierre Karl Péladeau, president and CEO of Quebecor, said in a news release Thursday.
“Starting today, this framework will enable us to accelerate the delivery of our wireless products and services beyond the reach of our current network infrastructures,” he added.
The framework established by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) allows wireless providers to offer their services outside of their network presence.
