Costa Rica strengthens its relations with the Italian Latin American organization

A Foreign Ministry statement said the minister expressed his country’s commitment to deepening cooperative relations with Italy, with IILA as a strategic partner.

In addition, he expressed Costa Rica’s interest in continuing joint work with IILA within the framework of the Falcone e Borsellino program to combat transnational organized crime. This successful program enabled training and technical exchanges in areas such as cybercrime and legality culture, the text says.

Also in strengthening the judiciary or financial investigations against organized crime; in which, among others, representatives of the public defense, the public ministry, the criminal cassation chamber and the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office take part.

Minister André also took advantage of the meeting to thank for the successful completion of the International Course “The Preservation of Pictorial Heritage: the Case of the National Theater of Costa Rica”, the in-person training phase of which was successfully carried out at the end of June 2023. at the Theater National.

He also highlighted the positive impact that scholarships and awards have in various areas.

The IILA is a partner with which we have developed a solid agenda of training, cooperation and trade promotion projects, to name just a few areas that allow Costa Rica and the region to develop substantial relationships and projects with Italian partners for the benefit of well-being to strengthen our communities, explained the minister.

Costa Rica, as a member country of the IILA, ​​has participated in projects aimed at strengthening the judiciary and combating organized crime, protecting cultural heritage, gastronomic tourism, training small and medium-sized businesses, innovation and sustainable development, among others.

The Secretary General highlighted Costa Rica as a very active member with which to further expand the common work agenda on issues such as aerospace, development of border areas and ocean protection.

The IILA is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1966 to improve relations between Italy and Latin America in the fields of culture, socio-economics, technology, science and cooperation.

Since 2017, the purpose of IILA’s numerous activities has been to fulfill the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda.
