A tourist plane crashed at sea off Propriano, southern Corsica, late Thursday afternoon, killing the four people on board, the Mediterranean prefecture said.
“At around 5:40 p.m., visual witnesses of the crash alerted the CROSS Med in Corsica, which then immediately deployed a large air and sea rescue device,” consisting of two boats and three helicopters, the Maritime Prefecture of the Mediterranean (Prémar) announced in a press release.
The accident occurred in the Gulf of Valinco near Cap Laurosu in southern Corsica.
“The four people on board the aircraft were quickly rescued with lifesaving equipment,” but “were declared dead, although emergency services revived them,” Prémar added.
