Five activists from Turin were arrested in Turkey while demonstrating for Rojava

Five young people from Turin between 22 and 27 years old were arrested by Turkish police forces in the city today, October 12th Sanliurfa (Riha in Kurdish), where they were to attend a conference called by the opposition Green Left Party (YSP). The Piedmontese activists were part of a group of 14 internationalists, also from France and Germany, who had been invited to the conference Condemnation of the Turkish war of aggression in Rojavascheduled for October 15th.

This comes from Italian sources who are in contact with those arrested Türkiye and in Kurdistan Further events were planned in various cities, also organized by the Democratic Party of the Regions (DBP) and the People’s Democratic Party (HDP).

Videos of the boys being taken away by the police are circulating on social media and the lawyer Gianluca Vitale (Legal Team Italia) is also interested in the matter: “We have fragmentary news and do not yet know the “status” of those arrested. They should be remanded in custody Police station in southern Turkey and expulsion could be ordered against them. We will also activate the diplomatic authorities as quickly as possible.”
