Israel has moved troops, tanks and other military equipment into the Gaza Strip to carry out a possible ground invasion of the enclave in the coming days. After calling the Hamas attacks “Israeli 9/11,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited soldiers on the front lines. Nothing should be left to chance, he added.

“Gaza will never be the same. We will reach a situation where the group that governs Gaza will be severely defeated, we will disband it. And whoever stays there will understand very well that such a thing will not be done to the State of Israel,” explained Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, Israel’s chief of staff.

In Gaza, the two million residents are stuck without water or electricity. Israel has also stopped all energy supplies. The humanitarian organizations on site are overwhelmed… The bombings have claimed at least 1,300 victims… but the number is increasing by the hour.

During his visit to Jordan, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called for the first time on Thursday for an “immediate end to the aggression” against the Palestinians. He also rejected “the practices of killing or mistreating civilians on both sides.”
