‘I’m A Celebrity 2023’ FIRST LOOK: Preparations are underway in the Australian jungle to build shelter and challenge areas

I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! Camp construction begins in advance of the 2023 series.

Later this year, a new generation of stars will land in the Australian outback to face their fears and compete to be crowned king or queen of the jungle.

Ahead of the launch, which usually takes place in November, the crew has been working hard setting up camp, located in Springbook National Park in Queensland, New South Wales.

Huge wooden structures were built, and fairground-looking parts were also built, such as a dunk tank and prize wheel.

The crew’s technical area is located near the campsite, and there are rows of buildings and cars between the trees.

The cast for this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity is yet to be announced, but it was recently reported that First Dates’ Fred Sirieix was “in talks to star.”

The 51-year-old head waiter, who previously said he would “never” take part in the ITV reality show, was added to the list in the hope “he will be well received by the ladies”.

Fred once revealed that although he “loves frog legs,” the bushtucker experiments don’t meet his “gastronomic” standards.

A TV insider told The Sun: “Show bosses are hoping he will be a hit with the ladies watching and that is one of the reasons they have targeted him.”

“Everyone is really excited that they are close to signing him.”

In an interview with Hello! Last year he admitted that the Bushtucker trials had put him off ever taking part in the reality series.

“I don’t think I would do that. I’m a celebrity, I wouldn’t be too keen on eating a camel’s anus or something like that,” he explained.

“I know I eat frogs, I’m French, but at least these frogs are cooked!”

“They are deliciously prepared, whereas a camel’s anus is put in a blender and you have to eat it raw.” It’s terrible. I know people who have been there – it’s really not a “dining establishment”.

It will be viewers’ second dose of jungle action this year after the first series of I’m A Celebrity: All Stars aired in the spring.

Myleene Klass was crowned the first I’m A Celebrity Legend after beating Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo, 30, in the exciting final.

With their former housemates and hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly watching, Myleene and Jordan went head-to-head in a cruel final attempt. They were right.

Following her triumph, Myleene – who first appeared on the show in 2006 – was named I’m A Celebrity Legend.

Myleene said: “I was in my element.” I can’t believe what the jungle gave me the first time and I actually had the opportunity to experience it again a second time.

“It’s one of those things, it was so magical when you first started thinking: Did I remember what it was like or did I restore those memories?”

“They say don’t go back to an ex and don’t go back to a reheated dinner.” I thought to myself, “Oh no, what if it’s not that good?” And I went back into the bush and there were even greater, more majestic, greater trials. South Africa is huge.

“And it wasn’t against just any roommates, but against the best of the best.”

“It was just mind-blowing.” “Everything was magical, very hard – both mentally and physically challenging – and something I happily gave myself over to.”
