The AMC distributed the officially produced concert film “Taylor Swift: Eras Tour”. $2.8 million in the previews on Thursday evening.

We told you last night that the rough estimate was under $5 million. The film was shown in 2,700 cinemas last night, starting at 6pm local time.

Keep in mind that these previews are not indicative of how the weekend will pan out. Estimates of over $100 million in the US still stand at 3,855 theaters. Swift announced Wednesday night, shortly before its premiere, that she would be switching her Lucky 13 release schedule from Friday 6 p.m. to Thursday night previews for the Sam Wrench-directed film. In some places, advance sales for last night’s concert film only began six to eight hours before the start of the performance.

Additionally, Swift was competing with herself last night: If you were a die-hard fan, you probably could have caught her at the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos game cheering on Travis Kelce.

Technically, there are no contests for last night, not only because of last-minute previews added on Thursday, but also because there weren’t many widely released concert films in the preview millennium era of the box office. Interestingly, the show begins at midnight for the Michael Jackson concert documentary “This Is It,” which grossed $2.2 million on Tuesday night, October 27, before $7.4 million on Wednesday and on grossed $34.4 million on its fifth day.

The Eras Tour’s last-minute showings haven’t taken much of a hit from the sleepy fall box office, as Universal/Blumhouse/Morgan Creek’s “The Exorcist: Believer” grossed an estimated $1.3 million in 3,663 theaters yesterday, a First-run down -9% from Wednesday equals $33.9 million for the week.

Lionsgate’s Saw

The second week of Paramount and Spin Master’s “Paw Patrol: The Might Movie” brought in $15.8 million, following a second Thursday gross of $620,000, +2%, from 4,027 theaters. The animated picture’s running total is $42.8 million.

New Regency/20th Century Studios/Disney’s The Creator grossed $571,000 from 3,680 theaters on Thursday, even with Wednesday, for a second week of $9.3 million and a running total of $28 million.

Fathom Events’ “The Blind” grossed $271,000 from 1,312 theaters, $4.5 million in its second week and $11.9 million overall.
