Britney Spears’ mystery star narrator revealed as Michelle Williams: The Oscar-nominated actress will read most of the audiobook for The Woman In Me as it’s “too heartbreaking” for the troubled pop singer to read again could live through

Britney Spears has hired Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams to narrate the audiobook for her upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me, out October 24th.

The 41-year-old “Baby One More Time” hitmaker recorded a small portion of the book and avoided sharing chapters about her family because the content was “too painful to retell,” TMZ recently reported.

In a statement to People released Friday, the artist said, “This book was a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it.”

Spears continued, “Reliving it all again was exhilarating, heartbreaking and emotional, to say the least. “For these reasons, I will only read a small portion of my audiobook.”

The star then gushed: “I’m so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest,” and The Fabelmans actress, 43, also told the outlet in support of the singer: “I’m on Britney’s side. “

Earlier this week, sources told TMZ that Britney also recorded audio of herself reading the memoir — but only a small portion of it.

Insiders also explained that the star chose not to tell chapters about her family “because she found it too painful to retell in her own words.”

Originally, publisher Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, had tried to get Legally Blonde actress Reese Witherspoon to record the book’s audio. However, she was not “available” to take the job.

The entertainment tabloid was also told by sources that only female celebrities were being sought as potential narrators, adding that the star who was officially chosen – now apparently Michelle Williams – had already completed recording.

The main premise “is a brave and stunningly moving story of freedom, glory, motherhood, survival, faith and hope,” says the book’s main website.

Spears dove deep to talk about her early life, career, and also her 13-year conservatorship, which notably ended in November 2021.

This month, Britney took to Instagram and teased that she had plans to write a second memoir following the release of The Woman In Me and the $15 million book deal with Simon & Schuster.

She had written to her fans and followers: “Riding and writing!!!” The only thing I’m doing at the moment… Volume 2 comes after Volume 1!!! #TheWomanInMe.’

The Toxic singer has also been keeping fans and readers updated on her memoir, explaining last month that she was still putting the finishing touches before publication.

Back in September, a source told Page Six that Spears “doesn’t want to do any interviews” to promote “The Woman In Me” after claims surfaced that her team felt she wasn’t ready.

However, an insider explained: “She is a free woman.” She will decide. It is your decision. She’s had offers and doesn’t want to do anything.’

The source added that the singer has “no desire” to sit for interviews as her “mental health, sexuality, upbringing and body image are constantly under scrutiny.” “You weren’t fair to Britney.”

Although the star didn’t want to do any interviews or do any major publicity before the book hits shelves, Britney especially enjoyed a recent trip to New York City – and shared special moments on her main Instagram page.

On Wednesday night she met up with fellow music superstars Maluma and J Balvin in the Big Apple – but later claimed she had “no idea” who they were at the time.

Page Six reported that the singer had a late-night sushi dinner with the Colombian musicians at the private social club Zero Bond after arriving in the Big Apple on Wednesday.

“The boys stopped her and she and her group joined them,” a source told the outlet.

The insider added that the group was in “good spirits” and that “Britney was all smiles and so happy to be in New York for the first time in a long time.”

During their meeting, the trio reportedly discussed music and Britney’s upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me.

On Friday, a source also told TMZ that Britney’s father Jamie has no intention of reading the memoir, saying he isn’t concerned about what Britney has to say about him in her new book…

The insider continued: “She has already denigrated him both in court and on social media and once said she hoped he would spend the rest of his life in prison.”‘
