This Thursday Martin Matte welcomed the comedian Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais to his set.
To make a joke, the guest appeared dressed all in leather and with a headset microphone.
Apparently this outfit was a nod to Martin Matte’s look in the 1990s.
The presenter obviously wasn’t expecting this, as Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais wore different clothes three minutes before he entered his set and delivered his opening monologue.
The young comedian even added a beige helmet to his head to commemorate his victim’s baldness.
Martin Matte was visibly destabilized by the gag and even asked his friend to take off his hat to be more comfortable, but Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais refused.
We have the feeling that the host is not yet completely comfortable in his new surroundings. As the episodes progress, he gains more and more control, but when he is surprised by an unexpected situation, like this Thursday evening, we perceive him as more fragile.
We also saw him more vulnerable as he started an improv game, but the wrong images appeared on his screen. It took a few more seconds for the correct video to appear. Martin Matte tried to fill this expectation with jokes, but he was shocked and uncomfortable.
We sincerely hope that he finds his way around and has more fun. At the moment we feel it more in the execution than in the joy.
