Jada Pinkett Smith says Tupac Shakur was her soulmate

(CNN) –– Jada Pinkett Smith continues to share details of her past relationships.

After revealing that she and her husband Will Smith have been living “completely separate lives” since 2016, Pinkett Smith spoke to RollingOut about her friendship with late rapper Tupac Shakur.

Pinkett Smith was asked if Shakur, who was shot in 1996, was her “soulmate.” She said yes and talked about their strong connection.

“If there is such a thing as past lives, I definitely believe that Pac and I shared some of them,” she said of Shakur, whom she befriended as a teenager and they both lived in Baltimore, Maryland.

Regarding any kind of romantic connection, he said that “that wasn’t possible” because “there was no chemistry between us.”

When the interviewer insisted that the chemistry between them was obvious to others, Pinkett Smith denied this claim.

“It’s just that friendship loves chemistry,” he said.

“It was almost as if God made us this way,” Pinkett Smith continued. “It was like I was bringing you all together, right? They will be a dynamic duo. But I’m telling you now that I’m going to make sure you can’t be together because that wasn’t the purpose.”

Pinkett Smith has put pressure on her upcoming autobiographical book, Worth, which will be released on October 17th. In the work he writes about his relationship with Shakur.

In a new clip from “Jada’s Story – An NBC News Special,” Pinkett Smith recalls the events at the 2022 Oscars. She said she was shocked when her husband hit Chris Rock and yelled, “Stop my name.” Woman outside. “Your damn mouth!”

Rock had made a joke about Pinkett Smith suffering from alopecia and hair loss.

“First of all, I’m really surprised because I’m not there,” Pinkett Smith told Hoda Kotb during the special. “It’s been a long time since we called each other husband and wife.”

The full NBC special airs this Friday at 8:00 p.m. Miami time.
