The war between Israel and Hamas ends a week this Saturday (14). The number of deaths has exceeded 3,000 since October 7 and continues to rise.

With the start of the Israeli army’s land incursions, the confrontation enters a new phase. Until then, offensives were only carried out by firing rockets.

This Friday (13), the Israeli army ordered the civilian population in the north of the Gaza Strip to move south. Israel even published information leaflets in Arabic to encourage people to leave their homes. This instruction was interpreted as a sign that ground operations would begin. The withdrawal period ended on Friday (13th) at midnight, 6 p.m. (Brasília time).

Israel’s leadership was thwarted by Hamas terrorists who urged Palestinians to stay home. The terrorists were accused of using the civilian population as a shield.

One of the issues that has attracted attention in recent days has been the execution of 40 babies by terrorists; some of the children were beheaded. US President Joe Biden and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said they had seen photos of the crimes committed.

There are fears worldwide that the war could spread to other countries in the region and take on larger proportions. In Lebanon, Hezbollah terrorists said they were “fully prepared for a confrontation” after Israel attacked targets in the country.

During the week, two planes managed to rescue Brazilians who were in Israel. So far, 425 Brazilian citizens have been repatriated through a joint operation by Itamaraty and the Ministry of Defense.

Other aircraft, including the presidential plane, have been mobilized to continue rescue work and are expected to return in the coming days.

The first week was also marked by the confirmation of the deaths of three Brazilians who took part in the rave attacked by Hamas terrorists. The first victim identified was Ranani Nidejelski Glazer, 23 years old; the second was Bruna Valeanu, 24; and the third, Karla Stelzer Mendes, 42.

The Israeli government confirmed that there are Brazilians being held hostage by Hamas. These people would be used in a prisoner exchange with Israel.
