This week, Jada Pinkett Smith has made several statements as she prepares to release her upcoming memoir. titled “Worthy.”
Through an exclusive offer for Today, The actress revealed that she has been separated from Will Smith since 2016. By Pinkett’s own admission, the separation was essentially a divorce, but the couple is still legally married.
Jada clarified that they chose to remain legally married because of the “deep love” they still have for each other. “I promised that there would never be any reason for us to divorce. We will work on everything. And I just couldn’t break that promise. “I will be by your side,” he said.
Due to their “breakup”, the actress also shared thisand it surprised her that Will Smith would call her his “wife” that Oscar night in which the actor became involved in an altercation with Chris Rock.

Jada Pinkett was “surprised” because Will Smith called her his “wife” after he slapped Chris Rock
At the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. The Oscar winner went on stage and gave the comedian a final slap in the face, saying: “Keep my wife’s name out of your damn mouth.”
However, the slap wasn’t the only thing that surprised Jada. The actress revealed that she was “surprised” that Will Smith called her his “wife.”
“We haven’t called each other husband and wife in a long time.”said Jada to Hoda Kotb. “I asked myself, ‘What happens now?’ Will you keep my wife’s name out of your mouth? I’m really worried about Will because I don’t know what’s going on.‘” the actress added.

Earlier this week, Jada spoke out about the Oscars slap for the first time. The actress told People magazine. He thought it was “a parody” when Will approached the stage to confront Rock.
“I thought, ‘There’s no way Will is going to beat him.'”, Jada remembered. “It wasn’t until Will went back to his chair that I realized it wasn’t a parody,” he added.
