P20 Summit ends in India with Brazil leading the way and closing statement ​​

New Delhi, October 14 (Prensa Latina) The ninth Parliamentary Summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) concluded here today with India transferring the legislative presidency to Brazil and adopting a joint statement.

In a solemn ceremony, the President of the Lok Sabha (lower house), Om Birla, transferred the mandate of the so-called P20 to Authur Ceasar Pereira de Lira, the leader of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, a country that will take over the leadership of the bloc from December. the strongest economies in the world, the European Union and the African Union.

Speaking at the closing session of the P20 Summit, Birla expressed pride at the adoption of the joint statement as it demonstrated the common commitment of parliaments to support efforts for better global governance, he said.

By approving the document, the leaders of the G20 countries and the guests decided to promote international peace, prosperity and harmony through diplomacy and parliamentary dialogue.

To concretize strategies in this regard, participants debated for two days on promoting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, friendly energy transition while protecting the environment, gender equality and digital transformation based on life.

A day earlier, at the inauguration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of public participation in addressing global challenges and expressed confidence that the P20 Summit deliberations will have a positive impact on efforts to address these challenges.

He believed that a world full of conflict and confrontation benefits no one and reiterated that this is the time of peace and brotherhood to move forward together and achieve growth and well-being.

Ahead of the meeting, India organized the Lifestyle for the Environment (LIFE) parliamentary forum to promote sustainable behaviors and production and consumption patterns.
