According to German police, registrations of the threat symbol are increasing as the conflict between Israel and Hamas escalates
German police have received a number of complaints from Jewish residents of Berlin who claim they found the Star of David symbol drawn or taped at the entrance to their homes. On social media, users support the complaints with photos of the graffiti. The information comes from the German newspaper Watson.
The country is registering threats amid the war between Israel and the Palestinian extremist group Hamas. The Star of David, associated with Judaism, was widely used by Nazi agents to mark Jewish homes and businesses during Adolf Hitler’s reign in Germany. The strategy was to intimidate and persecute the group.

The return of graffiti worries the federal government. In one of the reported cases, a 28yearold Jewish woman found a Star of David on the door of her home in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district on Thursday evening (October 11).
In an interview with the Bild newspaper, she explained that she had called the police to report the case, but was instructed to remove the symbol herself to “avoid any further kind of retaliation.”
“I speak Hebrew, make phone calls in Hebrew and wear a Star of David. I’ve thought a lot about staying home. “I’m scared because I really can’t assess the extent of the threat,” he explained. The local police are still investigating the perpetrator behind the crime.
