The passion after GH "is the feminine in its maximum power"says director

Luis Fernando CarvalhoDirector of The passion after GHa feature film based on the work of and starring Clarice Lispector Maria Fernanda Candido, talked about the significance of the character. He defines it as a power.

“GH is the feminine at its maximum, liberating power,” said Carvalho during the premiere at the Rio festival. “I would even say revolutionary. It teaches us that there is a limit, yes. But it is necessary to go beyond the cosmospolitics of Western man,” continued.

He also has expectations about the audience’s experience on the big screen, a factor that he says has been “stolen from cinema by streaming and social networks.”

Read the official synopsis: “Rio de Janeiro, 1964. After a passion ends, GH, a sculptor among Copacabana’s elite, decides to clean up her apartment, starting with the service room. The day before, the maid had said goodbye. In the bedroom, GH comes across a giant cockroach that reveals his own disgust for the world, a reflection of a society full of prejudice towards the beings it chooses as subordinates. In the face of the insect, GH experiences his existential crossroads. The experience tells of the loss of her identity and makes her question all the social conventions in which the female is still trapped today.

The film does not yet have an exact date for its nationwide release, but there will be a special screening at the São Luiz 2 cinema complex, Rua do Catete, 311 Rio, this Sunday (15th) at 7 p.m.
