“I think that there are certainly some of my friends among them,” the Pope said last night in a telephone conversation with Israeli journalist and friend Enrique Cymerman, who had told him that many Argentines were among the victims of the Hamas attack in Israel, among the wounded, the dead and the hostages. “I know, I know,” the pope replied, saying he was “very close” and indicating that he was ready to meet the families of the Israeli-Argentine hostages who had expressed that desire through the journalist. Cymerman actually asked him to do this because it would be “a great support” for her. The journalist posted the video of the phone conversation with the Pope on social media.
