Sherika De Armas, who represented Uruguay at the 2015 Miss World pageant, has died. She was 26.
Local media reported she died last week after a two-year battle with cervical cancer. Friends and family paid emotional tributes to the brunette beauty queen.
“Fly high, little sister. Forever and ever,” her brother Mayk’ De Armas said on social media.
Reigning Miss Uruguay Carla Romero complained that De Armas was “too developed for this world.” One of the most beautiful women I have ever met in my life.”
Anto Ciavaglia, a close friend, wrote: “I remember you with that beautiful glow.”

At the time, a media outlet praised her “beautiful face, her towering height and her charismatic personality” and called her “one of Uruguay’s young, promising talents.”
“I always wanted to be a model, be it a beauty model, a commercial model or a runway model,” she said in a translated interview with NetUruguay, according to Univision.
“I love everything related to fashion and I think it is every girl’s dream to have the opportunity to compete in Miss Universe in a beauty pageant. I am very happy to have had this challenging experience.”
Off the runway, De Armas sold body care, makeup and hair products through Shey De Armas Beauty Studio.
She is also said to have dedicated her time to the children’s cancer organization Pérez Scremini Foundation.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cervical cancer occurs most often in people over 30.
The disease can be prevented through regular checkups and the HPV vaccination, the agency said.
