‘Three’s a Crowd’ star Suzanne Somers dies at 76 after battling cancer for five decades

You just confirmed death Suzanne Somers, the star of Tres Son Multitude and Step by Step. The beloved actress died at the age of 76, a day before her 77th birthday, which would have been this Monday, October 16th.

The news was announced to the North American media by the interpreter’s publicist, R. Couri Hay. “Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of Sunday, October 15th. “She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for more than 23 years,” he said. “Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce and her immediate family.”

His agent further noted that Somers’ family had planned to gather on Monday for his 77th birthday.

“Instead, they celebrate their extraordinary lives and would like to thank their millions of fans and followers who loved them dearly. A private family funeral will take place this week, followed by a funeral next month (in November),” he concluded.

The tragic news comes just three months after her husband Alan Hamel announced the television icon’s breast cancer had returned.

“I have been living with cancer since I was 20 years old. And every time that little bastard shows up, I keep dealing with it,” Somers said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in July of this year. “I’m doing my best not to let this insidious disease control me.”

This illness affected her for 50 years. The performer was first diagnosed with breast cancer at age 50, after battling skin cancer in her 30s and overcoming two episodes of hyperplasia (increased cell production in an organ or tissue) in her 20s. (JO)
