The Texas Rangers pitchers did a great job Sunday night as they defeated the Houston Astros 2-0 in Game 1 of the American League Finals.
The meeting was presented on TVA Sports.
In the end, Rangers starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery (2-0) gave the Astros their five hits of the game in six and one third innings. Josh Sborz, Aroldis Chapman and Jose Leclerc, the author of the parade, came to the rescue and gave their opponents nothing.
On offense, the Rangers’ first run was scored in the second inning when a single by Jonah Heim allowed Evan Carter to cross home plate. Centerfielder Leody Taveras rounded out the scoring with a solo long ball in the fifth inning (Watch the main video).
On the Astros’ side, veteran Justin Verlander (1-1) inherited the loss after giving up six hits and two runs in six and two-thirds innings to the Rangers.
Hostilities continue Monday at 4:30 p.m., still on TVA Sports.
