Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio discuss their “long distance conversations” while Leo reveals it’s easy to talk to Robert De Niro while filming “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio discuss their collaboration on “Killers of the Flower Moon” in a new interview.

Scorsese, 80, teams up with two of his most frequent collaborators – Leonardo DiCaprio, 48, and Robert De Niro, 80, who have all worked together separately, but “Killers of the Flower Moon” marks the first time they’ve worked together all together film together.

They all spoke to CBS on Sunday morning, where the actors and filmmakers revealed their on-set relationship.

DiCaprio revealed that De Niro and Scorsese “are so incredible together.” Their shorthand, the way they communicate with each other, is almost through sign language.”

He added: “It’s incredible to watch, and when Scorsese was told what Leo said and asked what he had with Leo, the director said they had a ‘long hand’.”

The film is based on the novel of the same name by David Grann, which tells the true story of multiple murders on the Osage Nation Indian Reservation in the 1920s.

“Trying to be as truthful as possible is the only way to tell these stories,” DiCaprio revealed in the interview.

“We have done our best to listen to the Osage community. “I don’t know if we did a perfect job, but they embraced us and were so incredibly supportive, so vulnerable,” DiCaprio added.

“When you’re dealing with Native Americans and indigenous peoples, you have to make sure that everything we do is as authentic, as accurate or at least somewhat accurate to what you remember, and respectful,” Scorsese added.

DiCaprio also praised his co-star Lily Gladstone, who has already garnered Oscar buzz for her performance and grew up on the Blackfeet Nation reservation in Montana.

“She brought so much to not only her character but the entire film.” “She was a great partner,” DiCaprio said of Gladstone.

Gladstone added: “It’s a big responsibility and it’s terrifying. “As a local actor it’s hard to have so much to audition for. Yes, Marty showed me it was possible.’

DiCaprio, Gladstone and De Niro had to speak the Osage language for the film, which DiCaprio said was “not easy.”

Gladstone added that her co-star did an “incredible job” of speaking the language but also of “doing it the way a white man would do it,” which made her laugh.

“Killers of the Flower Moon” is the sixth feature film DiCaprio has made with Scorsese, following “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” “Departed,” “Shutter Island,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” among others Short film “The Audition” from 2015.

The film will be the tenth feature film collaboration between Scorsese and De Niro, including classics such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas.
