Comparison with Auschwitz: Israel angry with Colombia

Gustavo Petro is said to have compared the actions of the Israeli army with the crimes of the German National Socialists. Israel now plans to stop exports to Colombia in the security sector.

After strong criticism from Colombian President Gustavo Petro of Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, Israel wants to stop its exports to Colombia in the security sector. Israel decided this as the first measure in response to Petro’s comments, a spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Lior Haiat, wrote on Sunday on Platform X. Petro then raised a rupture in relations between the two states.

“If we have to cut foreign relations with Israel, we will cut them,” he wrote. Previously on X, Petro repeatedly condemned Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip following attacks by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on Israel. The left-wing politician compared the actions of the Israeli army to the crimes of the German National Socialists and the Gaza Strip to the Auschwitz extermination camp and the Warsaw Ghetto. (APA)
