Dinh Hue stressed the importance of Volodin’s visit, which he said contributes to strengthening inter-parliamentary friendship and cooperation in particular and between the two countries in general, and called for the promotion of joint cooperation projects in the field of science and technology.

Vietnam, he added, wants to promote cooperation in vocational training and resume and soon conclude negotiations on an intergovernmental agreement that will allow organizing the recruitment of Vietnamese citizens to work in the Russian Federation.

In addition, he is interested in strengthening cooperation in tourism, eliminating difficulties in reopening direct flights between the capitals of the two countries and promoting exchanges and cooperation between the places, he stressed.

In view of the goal of increasing bilateral trade exchange to $10 billion by 2030, the head of the Vietnamese legislature suggested that Russia review and simplify import procedures for Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products.

He also pointed out the need to promote negotiations and complement the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, and reiterated the importance of cooperation in oil, gas and energy, an important pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries .

For his part, Volodin agreed to highlight the good progress of bilateral relations and classified Vietnam and Russia as strategic friends. However, he noted that the two parties need to look for new forms of cooperation to further develop these relations.

He pointed out that although there are representatives of five political parties in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, all parliamentarians want and support the development of cooperative relations with Vietnam.

The Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee is so far the first and only mechanism of its kind signed between the National Assembly of Vietnam and a foreign legislature, and its second meeting scheduled for today has been postponed to 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. 19.
