“We have informed the families of 199 hostages,” Daniel Hagari, a military spokesman, said during a news conference on Monday.

He reiterated that “efforts regarding the hostages are a national priority,” adding that “the army and Israel are working day and night” to ensure their release while there is no news from the families.

According to the latest figures from Israeli officials, more than 1,400 people were killed in Israel in the attack by Hamas commandos.

According to local authorities, more than 2,750 people were killed in Israeli retaliatory strikes in the Gaza Strip, a small area ruled by the Islamist Hamas and besieged by Israel.
