  • Tekashi 6ix9ine reportedly tried to flee the Dominican Republic after he was accused of having a love rival beaten up by a group of thugs

The moment troubled rapper 6ix9ine was dragged away in handcuffs by police officers in the Dominican Republic on Friday night was caught on camera.

The singer, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was wanted in connection with the attack on two music producers on the Caribbean island. The alleged attack was linked to the rapper’s girlfriend, Dominican singer Yailin La mas viral, reports Diario Libre.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, known for his rainbow-colored hair and the “69” tattoo on his forehead, previously faced decades in prison as part of an extortion case in which he was accused of using a violent gang as a “personal hit squad.”

Instead, after his testimony against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, his sentence was reduced to about two years, earning him the nickname “Spitz.”

The footage shows Hernandez, 27, being led down the steps outside a hotel as the crowd cheers and records the moment on their cellphones.

Hernandez’s arrest was confirmed by Dominican Republic-based criminal defense attorney Felix Portes

Hernandez’s arrest was confirmed by Dominican Republic-based criminal defense attorney Felix Portes. In a series of posts on Instagram, Portes said Hernandez tried to flee the country on a private jet but was placed on a “migration alert” because of the arrest warrant issued, meaning he could leave the country.

The actual attack was not captured on video, but a clip showing a group of men about to enter a building is said to show the moments before the attack. The men then rush away within minutes of their arrival.

According to Diario Libre’s report, Yailin was recording a song in a studio with producer Diamond La Mafia when he and another person were attacked by five men.

La Mafia told the website that Yailin left the studio at that time. When the men arrived, they wanted to know where she was. He let them into the studio and when they couldn’t find them, they started attacking.

The other man, who was hit with the butt of a gun, required surgery to realign his jaw, Diario Libre reports.

Diamond La Mafia accused Hernandez of being “jealous” of his relationship with Yailin.

Portes said Hernandez was arrested in the city of Samaná and will be transferred to La Vega to answer assault charges.

In August, the GUMMA hitmaker was arrested for failing to appear for traffic violations in Florida. Just four months earlier, Hernandez was beaten in an LA gym in Florida.

The rapper was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries, including cuts, bruises and swelling to his jaw, ribs and back.

Shortly after the brutal attack, the group of men who claimed to have beaten him bragged about the attack on social media.

In videos that circulated online, they called him a “rat” who would not be tolerated in their “environment.”

As he kicked and punched him, one could be heard shouting to the other: “Take a photo, take a photo – I’m going to be famous now.”

It is currently unknown what exactly sparked the attack in Florida, but Hernandez was rarely short of enemies.

His popularity plummeted in 2018 after he was labeled a snitch for testifying before prosecutors as part of a deal to reduce his own prison time.

He faced a staggering minimum of 47 years in prison and could have been sentenced to life after being charged with multiple crimes, including racketeering, weapons possession, armed robbery and attempted murder.

Those charges included an allegation that he was directly involved in a drive-by shooting. An innocent bystander was injured in this incident.

But prosecutors gave him a deal that drew the ire of the entire rap world, and he ended up serving just two years behind bars, which he served in a private prison for his own safety.

He was released early in April 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2018, Tekashi 6ix9ine had a multi-platinum hit, Fefe with Nicki Minaj reached No. 3 on the pop charts, and Stoopid with imprisoned rapper Bobby Shmurda.
