A 38-year-old driver was killed instantly in a violent collision while attempting to overtake on Monday morning in Ange-Gardien (Montérégie).
The tragedy occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Route 235 near the Rang Séraphine intersection.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the motorist attempted to overtake another vehicle in a place where this was permitted, in a zone where the maximum speed limit is 90 km/h.
However, a truck was coming in the opposite direction and none of the drivers were able to avoid the impact.

The victim’s Tesla car was thrown into the ditch upon impact. In all likelihood he would have died instantly. His death was announced immediately.
The truck driver was not injured, at least not seriously. He was to be received by the police to give his version of the matter.
A portion of Route 235 was completely closed to traffic to allow a Sûreté du Québec collision investigation specialist to determine the cause and circumstances of the accident.
