IU demands that Spain and the EU condemn the crimes in Gaza

Rego went further in his powerful statements, emphasizing that the IU supports the idea of ​​recognizing the Palestinian state under the intergovernmental agreement and the proposal to “bring Benjamin Netanyahu to the International Criminal Court.”

The lawmaker praised demonstrations of solidarity with the Palestinian people around the world “which have been overwhelming and very successful,” including those that took place in most Spanish cities last weekend.

This was the case “despite the level of repression on the part of some governments, such as France, Great Britain or Germany, which are determined to criminalize solidarity with the Palestinian people,” he said.

He also used the opportunity to get rid of the “photo of shame” taken during his visit to Israel with Netanyahu Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission) and Roberta Metsola (Head of the European Parliament). “With this photo you are breaking the founding consensus of Europe, which is based on respect for human rights and international law. Not in our name,” said Sira Rego.

On the other hand, he stressed that he should not lose sight of the seriousness of what is happening in Palestine, noting in this context that “this crisis, this war, this invasion has caused more than 2,700 deaths, almost 800 of them Boys and girls.” . “.

Other statements such as “The Palestinian people are dying” were also heard among demonstrators who raised Palestinian flags and called for an end to violence against Gazans.
