It is claimed that ahead of publication, Rebekah added extra momentum to her bitter legal battle with Coleen Rooney by trademarking the name ‘Wagatha’.

The 41-year-old media personality registered the term Wagatha Christie six months ago, referring to the brutal showdown between the two WAGs.

Rebekah sued Coleen for libel in the Supreme Court – and lost – after Coleen claimed in October 2019 that stories about her had been leaked to the press via Rebekah’s social media account.

The story began when The Sun published a series of fake articles about Coleen from September 2017 to October 2019, sourced from Coleen’s private Instagram.

The Liverpudlian star claimed she only shared the stories with Vardy as part of a “swap operation”, including claims she had traveled to Mexico to look into “sex selection” treatment for babies, a plan to revive her television career and the flooding of her basement.

Rebekah was on holiday in Dubai with her husband, 36-year-old Leicester striker Jamie, when Coleen made the allegations about the leaks on Twitter and Instagram.

Rebekah said: “I felt physically ill at the time.” I think it must have been the biggest panic attack. I was totally shocked. What do you do next? That’s the million dollar question.

“I couldn’t understand why anyone would do that. Why would anyone do that knowing how vulnerable someone is and what impact such a thing will have? It will create a massive storm, and it did.’

Referencing a fake story about a flooded basement in Coleen’s new Cheshire mansion, Rebekah insisted: “The first time I read about the flooded basement was in the Chron online. “I love how I’m to blame for that is given, unbelievable.

“If I sold stories, where would the messages that said “Give this to The Sun” be? “Make sure I get paid for this.” Where are they? There aren’t any – because they don’t exist.’

In June of the following year it was revealed that Rebekah had commenced defamation proceedings against Coleen, which began in November.

The libel case is taking place in the High Court in London for the first time. A judge ruled that Coleen’s October 2019 post “clearly identified Rebekah as guilty of serious and sustained breach of trust.”

Judge Warby concluded that the “natural and ordinary” meaning of the posts was that Rebekah had “regularly and frequently abused her status as a trusted follower of Coleen’s personal Instagram account by secretly informing The Sun about Coleen’s private posts and Stories informed”.
