See who the highest paid hockey players are in 2023-2024

The 2023-2024 season of the National Hockey League (NHL) will be very profitable for the big stars of this sport, and forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Alexander Ovechkin will receive the most money.

In a text published last week, Forbes magazine ranked hockey players based on the total sales they will generate this season. Some fall higher than expected on these rankings because of their impact outside of the rink.

For MacKinnon it will be the highest paid election campaign of his life, he will receive $17.5 million. His contribution to the Colorado Avalanche’s payroll is $12.6 million, but his contract bonus will be paid primarily in the first three seasons of his 10-year contract.

As for Ovechkin, his $12.5 million salary is still among the highest in the NHL, but he is far from a standout on the ice. Thanks to his collaboration with Nike, among others, the Washington Capitals captain will increase his paycheck by $5 million, bringing the total to $17.5 million.

It’s no surprise that Connor McDavid rounds out the top three with $16 million. The 2022-2023 recipient of the Hart, Art Ross, Maurice Richard and Ted Lindsay Trophies will earn an amount equal to Ovechkin due to their sponsors. According to Forbes, he set a record with compensation of $19 million between 2018 and 2019.

David Pastrnak ($13.8M), Kirill Kaprizov ($13M), Dougie Hamilton ($12.7M), Seth Jones ($12.6M), Alex Pietrangelo ($12.4M). $), Adam Fox ($12.3 million), Timo Meier and Zach Werenski (tied). $12.2 million) rounds out the top 10.
