At least 11 Palestinian journalists were killed and another 20 injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Journalists Union reported today.
In a press release, the union noted that 50 local, regional and international media organizations were targeted in the Israeli attacks on Gaza that began ten days ago.
In addition, two journalists disappeared while reporting on the escalating violence between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which rules Gaza, and Israel, the union said.
He also noted that ongoing power outages and internet problems in Gaza are limiting journalists’ ability to continue their reporting.
“Many journalists have been directly threatened and incited by Israel on social media,” he added, calling on the international community to intervene to protect journalists.
A week ago, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip, prompting Israel to launch retaliatory attacks against Gaza.
