According to the FBI, violent crime in the United States fell in 2022

According to annual statistics released on Monday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), violent crime in the United States fell in 2022 compared to the previous year, with declines in all categories except robberies.

The decline averages 1.7%, with -6.1% for murders, -5.4% for rapes and -1.1% for violent assaults, according to the FBI. On the other hand, the number of robberies increased by 1.3%.

Hate crime statistics are stable and, according to the FBI, focus primarily on blacks in racist attacks, Jews in those of religious affiliation and gay men in those of sexual orientation.

“This data reminds us that hate hides but never goes away,” President Joe Biden commented in a press release, noting a “25% increase in anti-Semitic acts between 2021 and 2022.”
