Indian press highlights Foreign Minister Jaishankar’s official visit to Vietnam

The Indian foreign minister, who began his program in the Southeast Asian country on Sunday, met Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh the previous day for a meeting in which both discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties.

Ahead of the meeting, Jaishankar stressed on social media the importance of a stronger partnership between the two countries for the stability, security and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific.

He also spoke with other leaders and figures such as President of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam Le Hoai Trung and former Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien.

The Indian minister also delivered a lecture on India in the Indo-Pacific at the Vietnam Diplomatic Academy, highlighting the importance of the centrality of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Likewise in a contribution about nations that he co-led with his counterpart Bui Thanh Son.

Our discussions covered cooperation in the areas of politics, defense and maritime security, justice, trade and investment, energy, development, culture, education and training, and science and technology, he explained.

The Chancellor pointed out that topics such as commitment to global problems and cooperation in various multilateral groups would also be discussed.

This Tuesday, Jaishankar attended the inauguration ceremony of the bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Ho Chi Minh City and, in his words on the occasion, emphasized the importance of the Indian historical figure in the world, whom he described as a political inspiration and motivator in diplomacy.

Tomorrow, the Indian foreign minister will continue his trip to Singapore, where he will conduct an official program for two days, the foreign ministry said.
