“I want to apologize to these customers, this is not at all the experience we would have liked for them,” LCN’s vice president of corporate accounts offered.
Geneviève Turbide-Potvin initially gave a series of interviews for the print press on Monday. She was accompanied by the bank’s head of security, André Boucher.
The aim of the publication was to calm the situation after a series of articles gave a voice to defrauded entrepreneurs.
Their message on Monday was: Customers are responsible for their misfortune, but we will ultimately compensate them.

“Finally”, because most of the fraud occurred at the beginning of September and it took media intervention for the National Bank to finally react.
And now the bank increased the pace of its crisis management in a series of interviews with the electronic media on Tuesday morning.
Ms. Turbide-Potvin apologized to Mario Dumont. “We are working diligently with each of these customers to recover the funds,” she told LCN.
Compensation?
The defrauded entrepreneurs were all defrauded via bank transfer. Some were robbed of $10,000, others of $60,000, and still others of $100,000 or $250,000.
Now that the bank is assuring that they will all be compensated – not all defrauded customers – the question arises as to whether they will be compensated.
Nothing is less certain if we rely on the interview given by Ms. Turbide-Potvin on Monday.
She said she was “very proud” of the bank, which managed to find the stolen amounts in order to better return them to customers.
“We have more than 150,000 business customers and the situation only affects a few dozen of them,” she emphasized.
