IS claims responsibility for attack on Sweden in Brussels

The 45-year-old Tunisian, who has been in Belgium illegally since October 2020, sees himself as a fighter for the terrorist organization Islamic State. Now she has taken responsibility for the attack.

The extremist group Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack in Brussels. One of its fighters committed the crime in which two Swedish citizens were shot, IS said on Tuesday night through its channel on the Telegram messaging service. Following the fatal shooting of two Swedish football fans, the alleged perpetrator was shot dead by police.

According to authorities, he was a 45-year-old Tunisian. Shortly after the crime, investigators said they were looking into evidence of an Islamic motivation, particularly related to the burnings of the Quran in Sweden. The alleged perpetrator reportedly stated in an Internet video that he was close to IS and that he killed the Swedes to take revenge on behalf of Muslims. (APA)
