YouTube will gradually add many functions to the platform, such as the ability to search for music by humming or adjusting the volume of a video.
YouTube has just announced on its blog the addition of numerous new features to its platform, soon available on the web and on mobile devices in its various applications. These new features have previously only been offered to Premium subscribers and we are excited to see them soon available to all users.

YouTube is getting even easier to use
Among these new options, YouTube aims to provide even more precise control over video playback. The launch of the Stable Volume option we told you about this summer seems imminent. This allows you to balance the volume of a video to avoid sudden increases that are harmful to the ears.
It is also possible to speed up the playback speed of a full-screen video by two by keeping your finger pressed on the screen and releasing it to return to normal speed. This is another way to reach a part of the video you are watching.

When you move the playhead to browse a video, the preview image now appears full screen instead of in a small window. And if you want to go back to the part of the video you just left, you just have to move your finger again until your phone vibrates.
To play a video without interruption, YouTube will soon offer a mode to lock your screen to prevent your video from stopping due to mishandling, such as an accidental click.
Search for a piece of music by humming it
The other new feature has been in experimental testing with some users since August: the ability to search for music like Shazam, but by humming or even singing the melody. This feature has been available in Google Assistant for several years.
YouTube then uses its AI to recognize the original sound. You’ll be able to test out this new feature in the coming weeks, but it will only be available on Android devices for now.

YouTube has also decided to merge the Library and Your Account tabs into a brand new menu called You. From this page you can access your watch history, playlists, your own YouTube channel, and your favorited videos. The You tab should be available today on the web and in the YouTube mobile and tablet apps.

Finally, YouTube TV will also gradually benefit from some of these functions in the coming weeks. In general, the YouTube application for television will soon be enriched with even larger thumbnails, additional filtering options for your library or even a new vertical menu to display its summary, chapters and comments on each video.
