After Biden's Request, Israel Authorizes The Import Of Supplies From Egypt Into The Gaza Strip

Israel reported this Wednesday the 18th will allow the import of “food, water and medicine” from Egypt into the Gaza Strip. Authorization has taken place at the request of the President of the United States, Joe Bidenwho arrived in Tel Aviv in the morning.

“In light of President Biden’s request, Israel will not impede humanitarian assistance through Egypt as long as it is only food, water and medicine for the civilian population in the southern Gaza Strip,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said.

One of the conditions for the approval is that the supplies are not delivered to Hamas, which controls Gaza. However, Israel’s humanitarian aid deployment remains suspended until the terror group releases hostages captured in the attack, Tel Aviv said in a statement.

In a speech, Biden confirmed that Israel had allowed humanitarian aid to reach Gaza via Egypt “as quickly as possible,” adding that the United States was working with its partners to ensure trucks passed the border.

The Palestinian territory, home to more than two million people, has been under a total blockade imposed by Israel since the terrorist group Hamas attacked on October 7th.
