In the coming days, a low pressure area moving west between Africa and the Caribbean could develop into a tropical depression. In this way it would be deployed in an environment conducive to its development as it approaches the Lesser Antilles.

Meanwhile, this area, designated AL94, could organize and gain intensity as it approaches the islands on Friday and over the weekend. This was officially confirmed in a report by the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

The truth is that it does not pose a serious threat for now, as the European model suggests that it will remain weak. Additionally, it is likely to continue westward into the eastern Caribbean as a low-level tropical depression or undeveloped tropical wave.

Likewise, the American GFS model suggests that this disturbance will spread further west towards the islands. Although it could also expand into an area of greater wind intensity, this is an area less conducive to intensification.

What could happen soon?

According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) report, regardless of AL94, the Atlantic should remain calm over the next week.

In addition, NHC meteorologists reported in late September that a strange effect called Fujiwhara had occurred.

It is a phenomenon that made it difficult to track Tropical Storm Philippe, which was then forming in the Central Atlantic.

As a result, experts had difficulty predicting the storm’s path and offered varying forecasts with varying predictions spanning more than 600 miles.

In fact, this phenomenon got its name in honor of the Japanese meteorologist Sakuhei Fujiwhara, who first described it in 1921.

This effect occurs when two tropical storms get so close to each other that they begin to rotate counterclockwise. We speak of the Northern Hemisphere when they orbit each other.

But if we refer to Philippe, its center was less than 600 miles from another tropical storm called Rina, which was located to the east.
