A 5-year-old boy walking with other children during his group’s preschool trip in Poland was reportedly stabbed by a 71-year-old passerby.
“A group of children in Poznan […] The woman, who was traveling with her carers, was the victim of a shameful knife attack. The attacker was arrested by a police officer […] “The woman passed the crime scene while she was off duty,” Polish police reportedly tweeted on Twitter, The Sun reported.
According to police, the group was walking in the Łazarz district on Wednesday morning when the children were allegedly attacked with a knife by a 71-year-old passer-by.
Unfortunately, one of them was stabbed in front of another passerby and an off-duty police officer managed to get the man out of harm’s way.
The 5-year-old boy suffered cardiac arrest and was reportedly taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
The rest of the group would have been taken to a nearby daycare center where their parents would have been called.
The septuagenarian, for his part, would have been arrested. An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances and motive of this attack.
