Samsung Electronics’ “Everyday SmartThings with Son” campaign video, released on August 28, captures the attention of Galaxy and football fans and introduces the innovative smart home system SmartThings. To learn more about his film experience, Samsung Newsroom spoke with Son Heung-min and learned more about the SmartThings features that this famous soccer star particularly liked.
Q: What inspired you to participate in the Samsung SmartThings campaign?
When the Galaxy Z Flip came out, I was impressed with its design. So I immediately bought a Galaxy smartphone and then replaced my tablet and watch with Galaxy devices. I love Galaxy products and how they all connect together. For example, I can check the progress of my workouts or the number of calories burned during a workout on my phone or tablet. So I was very happy when Samsung asked me to take part in this campaign.
Q: What do you like most about using SmartThings?
The SmartThings app is now indispensable for me. Once the platform is configured, it manages everything autonomously, giving me more time and energy to focus on other things. It’s so easy to find compatible products nearby and pair them automatically. This allows me to work much more efficiently and productively.
Q: What was your favorite scene from this shoot?
If I had to choose just one, I would say my favorite scene is the scene where I’m playing video games because that’s an activity that I love. In the video, I place my phone on the wireless charger and SmartThings automatically creates the perfect gaming environment. Even the lighting is synchronized with the gaming screen via Hue Sync. I really enjoy playing games like this!

Q: Are there any specific SmartThings features you would like to highlight?
SmartThings helps me reduce and control the energy consumption of all my products in real time.
I also like how SmartThings gives me more ways to use my TV. Before filming, I only used my TV to play video games or watch football games. Now that I’m more familiar with the various features of SmartThings, I use my TV to control my devices, chat with friends while watching soccer games, and track my workout progress during workouts. I hope to introduce these innovative features to more people.
Q. Is there anything else you would like to share with us about your experience with this campaign?
Thanks to this campaign, I was able to find out how to use SmartThings to program my devices according to my daily habits.
