As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Puerto Rican host and actress Adamari López spoke with Venezuelan host Rodner Figueroa about her story and how she battled this complex disease.
On the Venezuelan entertainer’s podcast “Cara a Cara,” the 52-year-old Puerto Rican presenter and actress shared her experience as a cancer survivor, which she was diagnosed with at the age of 33 and was then partnered with the Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi.
One of the most emotional moments came when Rodner asked Adamari a question in which the host admitted he was uncomfortable asking it.

Puerto Rican entertainer Adamari López paid tribute to her father on Father’s Day with an emotional post on social media.
“I’m going to ask you a question that makes me uncomfortable, but I want you to be honest for the women who, God forbid, might go through this process. If you have a mastectomy and see yourself without a breast for the first time, right? “How does a woman deal with that?” she asked.
At the time, Adamari tearfully replied: “Sometimes you think that with time you will get over what happened.” […] I don’t think I’ve been asked that in a long time.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. The purpose is to help,” Rodner apologized, who also couldn’t contain his excitement when he saw the emotions on Adamari’s face.
“At that moment I really wanted to focus on looking healthy, but when I removed my breast, for example, one breast was slightly higher than the other. I removed the right breast that I had cancer, and I left the left because with the desire to become a mother I wanted to breastfeed my baby when that happened. […] But yes, you think, I will lose my femininity, will this person want to marry me, how will I cope professionally too, I mean there were a lot of questions. When you appear on television, you mainly work on your body and your body. After that it changed me in all aspects: my breasts, then I gained weight, my hair fell out… A lot of things happened. “It was like a shock from everything that I experienced and which, as far as I know, I have overcome over time,” said the actress of successful soap operas.
“So it was a matter of figuring out how to make it invisible so that it would stay hidden better… There were endless things running through my mind and they were difficult moments like any cancer patient can go through. “Don’t think that it is a process… We talk about it so that they know that they can overcome it, but we do not stop to recognize that it is a difficult and hard process to go through,” Alaia’s mother said.
