Patrick Roy could join the Oceanic

After Jacques Tanguay, Patrick Roy could move to Rimouski Océanic.

On Thursday, journalist Kevin Dubé announced that former Remparts president Jacques Tanguay is joining the Océanic to help the Bas-Saint-Laurent team host the Memorial Cup in 2025.

He will therefore be president of the organizing committee for the Rimouski bid, supporting his son Alexandre, the team’s owner.

But now, on Thursday evening, sources told Stéphane Turcot that Patrick Roy could follow Tanguay to Rimouski if the Océanic ever win the prestigious tournament.

“According to sources, Patrick Roy could be appointed hockey advisor to the Rimouski Océanic organization if the Bas St-Laurent team wins the right to host the Memorial Cup tournament in 2025. Rimouski and Shawinigan are the two candidate cities and the final choice will be made next December,” explained the TVA Quebec journalist.

If Rimouski hosts the Memorial Cup in 2025, the Océanic will have two seasons to build a team that will strive for major honors.

It has to be said that Patrick Roy’s resume with the Quebec Remparts is quite impressive. He led the Quebec team to two Canadian championship titles, in 2006 and 2023.
