Flashback: On Thursday, an interview from 2006 resurfaced in which he spoke less than kindly about his former flame
Notably, the interview took place four years after Timberlake and Spears’ relationship ended.
He had moved in with actress Cameron Diaz, with whom he had been in a three-year relationship at the time the story was published, but still appeared to harbor bitter feelings towards his ex.
It’s been a tough week for the SexyBack singer – days ago the world learned intimate details about his relationship with the Baby One More Time hitmaker in a published excerpt from her book.
The mother of two revealed that she had an abortion during her relationship with Justin when they were 19 years old.
Spears wrote that while she wanted the baby and “dreamed of starting a family with Justin,” he ultimately “wasn’t ready” for the responsibility of fatherhood.
In an excerpt published by People, the singer recalled: “It was a surprise, but for me it wasn’t a tragedy. “I loved Justin so much. I always expected that one day we would start a family together. This was just going to happen a lot sooner than I expected.
“He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, we were way too young. “I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby.
“I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left to me alone, I would never have done it. And yet Justin was so sure he didn’t want to be a father.’

Since their separation, the two superstars have developed a friendly relationship.
Back in April 2020, Spears released a video of himself dancing to the Tennessee native’s song Filthy.
“I know that 20 years ago we had one of the biggest breakups in the world. But hey, the man is a genius! Great song, JT!’ She captioned the footage.
Justin responded with a series of emojis – a crying, laughing face and three raising hand emoticons.
And in a February 2021 Instagram post, Timberlake apologized for his past behavior toward her after the documentary Framing Britney Spears rehashed his post-breakup interviews.
“I have seen the messages, tags, comments and concerns and would like to respond.” I am deeply sorry for the moments in my life when my actions contributed to the problem, when I spoke out of line or out of line stood up for what was right,” he wrote.
Then, in June of that year, after Britney’s shocking court testimony about her conservatorship, he sent a message of support and solidarity.
