The video, filmed by a journalist based in Gaza, sparked reactions.
The boy was sleeping with his family when an explosion in Rafah, in the south of the Palestinian enclave, suddenly woke him up.
According to the images shared by Abdallah Alattar, we can see the child with his eyes wide open and shaking all over.
“I’m here for you, don’t be afraid. Do you want your father?” asks the carer.
The child bursts into tears, but is still comforted by the doctor.
The population is paying a very high price for the war that was triggered by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas’ attack on Israeli soil from the Gaza Strip on October 7th. More than 1,400 people were killed in Israel, most of them civilians who were shot, burned alive or died as a result of mutilation on the first day of the attack.
At least 3,785 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed in Israeli retaliatory strikes, according to a new count by the Hamas Health Ministry on Thursday. At least 1,524 children were killed.
