The Golden Bachelor: Kathy Swarts is sent home by Gerry Turner after telling her rival to ‘zip up’ on ABC show

Gerry Turner wasn’t happy when he heard Kathy Swarts tell Theresa Nist to “break it up” on Thursday’s episode of ABC’s “The Golden Bachelor.”

“I didn’t come here to fight,” said Kathy, 70, a retired education consultant from Austin, Texas. “We are all here to get to know you. And when people come in and talk about the deep connection they have with you, it’s hurtful to those of us who haven’t had time with you.”

“I’m starting to see a divide here that I’m really not happy about,” said widower Gerry, 72, of Hudson, Indiana.

“I’m not a bad guy here,” Kathy said. “We are all people of a certain age who have hearts and feelings.”

Theresa, 70, a financial services professional from Shrewsbury, New Jersey, had previously pulled Kathy aside to make sure all was well between them after she bragged about her connection to Gerry following their personal dinner.

Kathy told Theresa that she was still angry with her for saying that Gerry came into her room and comforted her.

“I never meant anything bad or malicious,” Theresa said. “I really just wanted to share how it went.”

“Have you ever heard the expression ‘don’t kiss and tell?'” Kathy said.

“I made a big mistake and I’m so sorry,” Theresa said. “Maybe I’m saying too much, but it’s not malicious.”

“Can I just give you some friendly advice?” said Kathy. ‘Flap.’

Gerry said in a confessional that Trista Sutter, 50, who was on the first season of “The Bachelor” and became the first star of “The Bachelorette,” made a special appearance on the show and told him to stop to look for the woman he could live with. Look for the woman he couldn’t live without.

Trista came into the house and left a group date card for the women to play pickleball. Theresa told Trista details about her one-on-one date with Gerry before anyone else.

“Here’s the thing about Theresa, I think she might be the one for Gerry,” Kathy said in a confessional. “But stop telling every detail of your date because there are other people here, including me, who haven’t had time with him. “But she just can’t seem to find the off button.”

Hurt feelings: “I didn’t come here to fight,” said Kathy, 70, a retired education consultant from Austin, Texas. “We are all here to get to know you. And when people come in and talk about the deep connection they have with you, it's hurtful to those of us who haven't had time with you.

Leslie Fhima, 64, a fitness trainer from Golden Valley, Minnesota, got the one-on-one interview and loved it.

Gerry told the group that pickleball was part of his life and was excited to share it with them. The next star of The Bachelor, Joey Graziadei, 28, stopped by to give them tips.

“Just don’t forget these are my girls,” Gerry said.

“I see,” Joey said.

Ellen Goltzer, 71, a retired teacher from Delray Beach, Florida, said she played pickleball several times a week and was captain of a team. April Kirkwood, 65, a therapist from Port St. Lucie, fell on the court while running.

“I think I broke my ankle,” April said.

Gerry sat down next to her and April put her head on his shoulder.

“I’m actually totally fine,” April said in a confessional. However, it later emerged that April had actually suffered a fracture.

The women then split into teams of two and Trista said that the winning team, along with Gerry, would be featured in Pickleball Magazine and receive a trophy.

“It means a lot to me to impress Gerry,” Ellen said.

Ellen’s team won. Jesse pointed out that Sandra Mason, 75, a retired executive assistant from Doraville, Georgia, played with two artificial knees and missed her daughter’s wedding.

In the final, Kathy and Ellen competed against Sandra and Nancy Hulkower, 60, a retired interior designer from Alexandria, Virginia.

“My daughter is getting married today,” said Sandra. “But I have a goal. “I want to win, so we have to push through and do our best.”

Ellen and Kathy’s team won and at the end Ellen gave Gerry a kiss on the court. Kathy kissed him too.

Later, Gerry toasted them all at a cocktail party at court. Gerry sat down with Sandra and asked her if she had missed her daughter’s wedding.

“My daughter and I talked about this early on,” said Sandra. “She said, ‘Mom, I have my husband.’ “I want you to get yours.”

“I’m very flattered,” Gerry said. “This is a big event.”

Gerry said it would be a great idea for her to allow her daughter to FaceTime. Sandra thought that was really sweet of him.

Then Gerry came back and gave Sandra the group date rose.

“He’s a sentimental guy and he knew that I made the decision to be there for him and myself,” Sandra said in a confessional.

Leslie met Gerry for her personal date. Gerry picked her up in an ATV and the two hugged.

“I love spending time on an ATV and I think Leslie is the perfect person for that,” Gerry said in a confessional.

“I feel like he’s the man I’ve been looking for for a long time,” Leslie said.

Leslie shared that she was twice divorced and a single mother. Leslie said she has been single for 22 years.

“I’m here because of you,” Leslie said.

Gerry reached out and kissed her hand. He told her he liked the way she looked at him. The two went into a hot tub together and he gave her the date rose.

“I will do everything I can to be with this guy,” Leslie said in a confessional. “I’m really happy about him.”

Back at the house, the women played the “Never Have I Ever” game with ice cream and asked personal questions.

Gerry came to the cocktail party. Gerry took Susan Noles, 66, a wedding officiant from Aston, Pennsylvania, aside and gave her a rose quartz, saying the crystal symbolized empathy and strength like her. He said these things also remind him of his former wife. Susan started crying, hugged him and the two kissed.

Kathy looked outside and saw them kissing.

“I don’t feel very confident,” Kathy said. “There’s a rose ceremony coming up.”

Susan came back and Kathy asked her what was in the box. Susan said it was a rose quartz and it “reminded him of his wife.”

“You know what’s so scary, I almost forgot what it feels like to love,” Ellen said.

Ellen told Gerry that he had ignited a spark in her and didn’t know how much she needed it.

“I’m falling in love with you, Gerry, and it’s really hard,” Ellen said.

Gerry reached out and kissed her hand.

“I’m in the same place,” Gerry said.

Gerry started to cry.

“I feel like I just met the love of my life for the first time,” Ellen said in a confessional.

Nancy told him that she had realized that he was further along compared to other women, and Gerry said, “I won’t deny that.” Then Nancy said goodbye and left.

At the rose ceremony, Gerry handed out roses to Ellen, Faith, Susan and Theresa.

Kathy and April Kirkwood, 65, a therapist from Port St. Lucie, Florida, didn’t get a rose and went home.

Gerry walked Kathy out.

“I am who I am and people either like me or they don’t,” Katy said. “Rejections aren’t fun.” “I mean, I could burn the house down before I leave, but you know.”

The Golden Bachelor will return next Thursday on ABC.

The episode “The Women Tell All” follows the following week. The season finale is scheduled for November 16th.
