The Mistelbach International Puppet Theater Days takes place for the 45th time this year. Puppet shows from ten countries can be seen, under the motto “Dark, Curtain, Light!” The kickoff took place on Thursday night.

The MÖP Puppet Theater opened with “The Imaginary Sick” based on Molière. Around 80 performances can be seen during the eight-day festival at the Stadtsaal and the Baroque Schlössl Mistelbach until October 26th. The program includes, among others, “Polly and Her Parrots or Little Red Riding Hood with a Difference” by the Zitadelle Puppet Company of Germany, “Don Juan” as a puppet drama by Buchty a madman from the Czech Republic and “Where Have My Socks Gone to ?” by the puppet theater in the city of Rijeka, Croatia.

The plays “Where Sky and Sea Exchange the Blue” by the Roof Theater of Cordula Nossek from Austria, “Ferdo, the Big Bird” by the Maribor Puppet Theater from Slovenia and “The Book of All Things” by the Margrit Gysin Puppet Theater from Switzerland also will be shown. The final on October 26th is the play “Shadows of Cinema”, in which Valeria Guglietti portrays famous cinema characters as shadowy figures.

Mistelbach Middle School cooperates with the festival

In addition to the aforementioned groups from Germany, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia and Switzerland, theater groups from France, Italy, Spain and Ukraine will also perform these days in Mistelbach. 35 different productions will be shown in the coming days.

The “Sky Strikers” exhibition will also be on display in the city hall foyer. It was created in cooperation with the art class at Mistelbach Middle School. Here too, everything revolves around the motto “darkness, curtain and light”.
