Yesterday OnePlus launched its first foldable smartphone in France, the OnePlus Open. However, this also arrived in other markets under a different name: the OPPO Find N3. The two are almost identical.

Peter Lau, founder of OnePlus, had already announced in a video that the OnePlus Open shares its design with the Oppo Find N3, and it’s true that the smartphones are surprisingly similar, if not identical. It seems that the two giants of BBK Electronics have adopted a strategy consisting of the following: Developing the smartphone hand in hand and then selling it on the markets under different names.

The OnePlus has just hit the market in France at a price of 1849 euros. But it is also available in China as OPPO Find N3. Therefore, OPPO probably wants to capitalize on its excellent brand image in China, while OnePlus is more popular internationally.

The OPPO Find N3 and the OnePlus Open are as similar as two drops of water

The Oppo Find N3 and the OnePlus Open have practically everything in common. Same specs, same cameras, same hinge, same screens. Everything is the same, and this can be seen in the official images from the two companies. Even the angle of most promotional photos is the same.

The only real differences are in the software and the finish. The Find N3 is sold in gold, red, and a few other colors, while the Open only comes in black and green. Over and beyond, the Find N3 comes with ColorOS while the Open comes with OxygenOS, But we now know that the two overlays are very similar thanks to a merger between the two companies’ development teams.

Oppo and OnePlus have therefore developed this new foldable smartphone together, taking advantage of all the manufacturers’ special features. While OPPO mainly took care of the photography and design parts, since the company already had experience in the foldable smartphone market, OnePlus brought its expertise in terms of the performance of the device but also the part of the software that is essential in this type of Devices often lack a smartphone.

What’s certain is that we’re looking at the best foldable phone of its generation, and it’s likely to quickly terrify the competition.
