He freezes into a mannequin to steal jewelry in malls

A young Polish man who posed as a model in shopping malls to steal for his own money was arrested after being betrayed by his hungry stomach.

The 22-year-old, suspected of committing several thefts in Warsaw, hatched a clever plan that allowed him to stay alone in shopping centers after closing time.

Several times the thief froze in front of a shop window, and no one among the shopkeepers and customers noticed this trick, mistaking him for a real mannequin.

“He stayed there until everyone had left” to safely steal jewelry and other items, Warsaw police said, 7Sur7 reported Thursday, citing local media.

But the thief’s technique failed when he decided to grab something to eat at the mall to satisfy his small hunger before being surprised by the establishment’s security guards.

“He was spotted and caught by security personnel,” local police said, indicating that the suspect was being held in custody pending his court appearance soon.
